I can understand why some reviews were negative and unflattering. The attitude of some of the staff is inexcusable and intolerable and a sure bet to kill if not hurt a restaurant. However, even top restaurants in New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Milan and Paris can have an off night. I visit the Philippines twice a year and always make it a point to dine at Barbara's. Just remember you went to Barbara's for the food and hopefully you leave with fond memories as I do all the time.

I read a review on the place and was expecting it to be good, but not great. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere in the old Spanish building made the experience just about perfect.

I just want you all to know that Barbara's is very unprofessional in terms of dealing with booking wedding reception. We have booked our reception back in september '07 with Barbara's but just January '08 - we found out that they gave our slot just because our reservation was for 150 guests and someone else was getting the place for 200 guest. No one from Barbara's had the coutesy and professionalism to even contact us and inform us about it.

I was trying to inquire for catering but unfortunately one of the representatives answered the phone put me on hold for more than 3 mins!!! to think that im making a NDD call.

the food was very great!!!! when you see the food, oh my G.... it looks delicious and when u eat.......it taste like HEAVEN!!! the ambience, its perfect!!! only Barbara's Restaurant have that beautiful place!!!

maybe more lightings effect, specially by the orchidarium site, for wedding, however food is good.

It was bad for the environment! So many Fatty Foods and It was a smelly place with lots of disgusting people walking around in there!

nothing that i dislike. place was awesome and its good for weddings. just imagining the place with the love of your life and you'll be like in heaven.

Omigosh! The food was soooo good, it'll make you melt, hehe. I ate beef in garlic and olive oil. I forgot what it was called. It was sooo good. It's like no other. It was the best. The baked potato was equally good.

Not sure why Barbara's was only rated #25. Definitely a top 5 pick in Manila. I have been fortunate to enjoy some of the top resto in San Francisco (food mecca of the world!)like Masa, Farallon, Boulevard and The Waterfront to name a few and I guarantee you the food and ambiance at Barbara's will withstand any taste test and be at par with the restaurants mentioned above. If you like the old colonial feel then this is the place for you. Try the lengua, chicken flambee and the to die for paella. Enjoy.
