In a Heartbeat you bet I'd go back!
I liked everything about the place. We had a main floor room, we stepped out our door and we were in a circle of lush greenery, we could walk right out back to the beach. It was so wonderful. I must have been given the "Grand Room" is all I can say, because we loved the kitchen, with dining table, the bathroom, the bed, even tho it was two twins pushed together it served it's purpose, yeah, we slept well also. We loved the bar-keepers, they were the best, our glasses were never sitting empty, and what ever drink you requested they were able to make. We watched some basketball, listened to the music around the pool met so many nice people from all over the world. The food was so good, and if you missed the main kitchen dining room, the hamburger and fries at the pool cabana were so American good, and they served here at all hours. We only pulled our money out to leave tips, everything was included. It was such a great experience I'd tell everyone to go stay here. We met a gal that comes from Canada each year and spends winters in Jamaica at the "SandCastle". You make it what you want, remember you are going to a poor country that works hard to make a living with what they have to work with. They are the most friendliest people I have ever come across while on vacation. My trips were never long enough. I loved it, I loved the SandCastle stay, and I'd recommend it to anyone of my friends and to you planning a trip. It's not the highest star rating, so keep that in mind when you book your stay, you get what you pay for. Can't wait to come back and visit again.

No Room at the Inn
After making the reservation and handing over my credit card number, I felt comfortable that we had found aplace to take our out-of town guests on the other side of the island (we live in Kingston). No problem, mon, we've got two rooms for you, your guests, your toddler and your 3 mos old baby, and we can put a crib in the room for you.

GREAT NITE LIFE & SHOPPING LOCATION
I STAYED TWICE AT THIS HOTEL IN A YEAR. FIRST TIME IN JAN.05 AND AGAIN IN APRIL 05. THE HOTEL IS A GREAT LOCATION TO ALL THE NITE LIFE, DUNN'S RIVER AND A LOT OF EATING SPOTS. THE HOTEL WAS OKAY FOR LYING YOUR HEAD AND STORING YOUR SUITECASES. IT'S NOT THE MOST OR BEST PLACE STAY BUT ME I WAS ALWAYS OUT ON THE TOWN IN THE DAY & AT NIGHT. FROM TIME TO TIME I WOULD GO TAKE A NAP. THE HOTEL ROOMS NEED PAINT AND SOMETHING ELSE TO GIVE IT BOOST. AGAIN THE ROOMS WERE OKAY NOT THE BEST. BUT THE LOCATION GREAT FOR WALKING TO THE CLUBS AND BEING ONE WITH LOCALS. I HAVE BEEN TO JAMAICA FIVE TIMES AND STAYED AT THE JAMAICA GRANDE NOW THE SUNSET JAMAICA, WHICH IS HIGH END AND SHAW PARK & SANDCASTLE WHICH ARE LOW END BUT REGARDLESS YOUR VISIT & EXPERIENCE IS WHAT U MAKE OF IT. PEOPLE PLEASE REMEMBER U ARE VISITING A BEATIFUL ISLAND AND AT THE SAME TIME THEIR PEOPLE ARE POOR. SO KEEP IT REAL AND ENJOY YOURSELF AND GO WITH NO EXCEPTATIONS.

We will never go back!
I was returning home to Jamaica for a long awaited vacation and my best friend decided she wanted to come. She is American and have never traveled outside the country before so I wanted her to experience the jamaica I know and love. Our experience at Sandcastles was awful. The telephone inside the room did not work and it took two days for us to get a phone after so many complains to the manager. Their were no remote control for the tv and manager had to buy a remote on the street. The most disgusting thing is that we had to take a bath from a cooking pot we heated on the stove in the room. the hot water heater did not work in our room. We complained so many times, even for a room change but we didn't get that because they claimed all the rooms were booked up. There were so many excuses that we even tried booking into another hotel but all the hotels were booked due to the jamaica national holiday. Some of the staff were nice especially the restaurant staff and the bellboy. The furniture looked terrible, some of the draws couldn't close and the lamp was broken. The bathroom need a makeover it looked disgusting. The maids clean your room only when you tell them to. (Lazy) Two things was nice, the property and the food. I wish I had read a preview before we booked this hotel. This hotel spoiled my friend Jamaican experience and I am disappointed also.

Never again!!!!!
Let me start by informing the readers that I have been to Jamaica 9 times before. I have never stayed in the Big AI resorts but prefer the smaller hotels and inns. I read all the review on this place before booking and decided I would form my own opinion on this location as some of the review were rather harsh, but it seemed a good location and choice. Two of the main complaints about this location were that the roof leaked and that locals live on the property. Let me tell you both of these rumors are VERY true. We stayed in a 2 bedroom in the D block and both of the bedroom roofs leaked. Imagine being a sleep and waking up to water leaking through the roof on to your head. This is what we all had to deal with every time it rained. Not only did the bedroons leak but the roof leaked in 3 spots over the kitchen table and one place on the sofa. We complained about the issue and were told they would change our rooms the next day, but they never did( We ended up moving over to fishermans point and were much happier there). They rent out half of the units in this complex to locals. We had to deal with local children running up and down the corridors at 2:00am in the morning just about every night. This I found truley amazing. Like I said I have been to Jamaica many times and stayed all over the island and have never seen or experienced this in any of the other places I have stayed. Some of the big AI resorts offer rooms to staff but this was different. There was a family of about 16 people living in this one bedroom unit next door to us. I spoke with them and was friendly with one of the woman living there annd she explained that they were not tourist but they lived there and rented the unit.

Love it at Sandcastles
The price is right. Its central to all the action. Nobody bothers you. Its clean. The staff is courteous. They don't harrass you or beg you. Cabs at your beck and call. If you want a carry-out to varietize your diet, there is a nice little one a few feet away. The food is hot and the variety wide. Me and my in-town Jamaican woman like it.
