Back to Kahana Sunset Best Maui Experience This is a great place to stay, and one day I hope to go back. We booked our condo at Kahana Sunset a month and a half before departure with a small amount of apprehension since we knew nothing about our choice, and we have had bad condo experiences on Maui before. Our condo was clean and well maintained; the beach was my favorite part.
Reviewed by: Eat'n Spam Dan from on Jan 06 2009 Spacious but Secluded The condo was very spacious just like home. The property is beautiful but very secluded from the rest of the island. If you like to be in the thick of things then this is not the resort for you. Only draw back is no air conditioning in the condo and in Hawaii you NEED air conditioning. We found it very hot during the day but the condos do have ceiling fans which does cool the unit down a little. There are no amenities nearby so you have to drive to them. Incredible views of the ocean and the beach is very nice. This property is excellent for families.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 21 2005 Family Fun time Pleasure of staying there 5 times. 14 units have steps to the beach, like 5 steps. You walk out the door, and, SAND!! Balcony where in Feb to early Apr we see 30 to 50 whales before 10 am. Breeching, flippers, exciting. The condos sleep 6 easy, with 2 bedrooms. On the hill, 10 more units have a higer view over a nice cove. We take the family, cook our own meals, and swim lots. North of Lahaina by 215 minutes, and south of Kapalua by 5. Of course, Kapalua has the best golf on the Island in my opinion, and twilight rates after 1:00 save bundles. Kahana Sunset won't satisfy your need to be pampered in luxury, and Hotels certainly offer you the chance to ride down the elevator showing everyone your swimsuit. Kahana is for those who want lots of family time, a backyard beach, and a cove with manageable waves (from none, to 3 ft) for swimming. PS, around the point to the north is great snorkeling...

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 10 2004 Loved it! We go there every other year and whenever i'm there i feel like i'm truly home. It is so beautiful and it just gives you such a feeling of serenity that you can't wait to be back there! Just reminiscing right now and seeing pictures of it makes me feel homesick! On the non-sappy side- you will get a great tan and there is tons more privacy than a huge hotel could ever hope to give. You also have great oceanfront property where the waves are anywhere between 3.5ft to 5.5ft (diff. times of the day.) And whenever you wake up in the morning you will hear the birds singing and you can look out your door and see colorful flowers and enjoy watching the waves all day! They also have a great security system. Gaurds who walk around the condos at night and a pass-gate to get in there! So you will have no worries. If you get tired of the saltyness of the ocean, don't Worry! They have a pool and kiddie pool to for your use. The pool is located in the center of it all so it only takes about 2 minutes to get there where ever you stay. If you don't want a view of the ocean all the time then there are some condos set a little further back just for you! There are also parking spots that are covered and right under the second story of your condo! So if it rains (which it does in Hawaii quite often but it's usually warm and not too long) then have no worries. We shall be going back there in the spring of 05 (3months).! Maybe i'll see you there!
