Back to Toronto Marriott Eaton Centre Best staff in the business From the valet meeting my husband and me upon arrival, to the hotel manager himself, I have never encountered a more helpful, friendly and accommodating staff during any stay at a hotel. The hotel itself is lovely, and we were given a corner room--spacious with lots of light. It was my birthday, and shortly after we checked in, I was brought a tray with fruit and Perrier and a card personally signed by 15 staff members. This was only a 2 day stay, but every employee we met could not have been more gracious. I can't recommend this establishment more highly.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 28 2008 Excellent Location I loved everything at this resort! The location is great...close to all the action and connected to the Eaton Center shoppoing mall through Sears. You don't have to leave the hotel to enter the mall. This resort is in the heart of it all! Beautiful rooms. Great resesturant we ate breakfast there daily..good price and good food. Go next door and check out the very old church it is beautiful and historic. Worth the money and I hihgly advise this resort. Enjoy!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 08 2006 Nice hotel in dirty neighborhood The service here was great--especially the concierge (incredibly helpful). At last minute, we decided we wanted to do a day trip to Niagara Falls, but didn't have a lot of money, and the concierge went to great lengths to find us a cheap, easy way to get to the Falls (greyhound) with explicit directions on how to get where we needed to be (very helpful). The hotel itself is pretty standard, nice rooms (coffee makers in rooms, updated decor, iron in room, etc) and it's connected right next to the mall (Eaton Centre), which is great. I was there in July 2005, and there was an awful lot of construction going on, as they are building (I'm guessing) another hotel right next door to the Marriott. So, we'd be woken up early with construction noise (and it isn't a pretty view). However, it's close to the water (we did a simple boat tour of Lake Ontario) and there's a selection of small little breakfast places about 1 block up from the hotel (again, we couldn't afford to eat in the hotel--ask the concierge where the nearest McDonald's is, the breakfast places are right next to it--it's in a strange spot, below street level) and the city itself in that area is pretty dirty--but still safe. At the hotel, you cannot exchange Canadian money back into US dollars--so be prepared (but you can get Canadian dollars for US). There's also a sauna inside the laidies restroom on the 18th floor which was nice,(pool is small & indoors--work out room is also fairly small, and just 4 lounge chairs outside on a "roof" like patio, but you can't see the city from the chairs). Also, on the day you check out, the hotel will kindly keep your luggage for you, until you need to leave (which was great). On our way back to the airport, they recommended that we take a limo, instead of a taxi, saying that it was just about the same price (they were right, it was only about $2 more)--so I recommend that--it was a much better way to get back to the airport. Have fun in Toronto--we loved the diversity there and the amazing food options!
