Excellent location. A little hide-away!
This older resort is conveniently located in old Lahaina where many daily activities take place for both local residents and visitors who are not in search for city life and experience.

Cant wait to go back
We loved this place!! It had been recently renovated and the decor was awesome! The staff was very friendly and our room was cleaned excellent everyday. We were there for 8 days and we will defintey come back. This place is great for couples and traveling with friends. You can purchase these place, so you really dont get that resort feel, so if you are looking for lots of activites etc... this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place to relax after hiking through the bamboo forest, this is it! The concierige was great, especially when we needed a cab to take us to a luau at the Hyatt. Very great service. The cabanas at the pool were very relaxing and never crowded.

The remodel makes it a whole new experience.
Aina Nalu has completed its renovation and is one of the best bargains in Lahaina. Clean, modern, beautiful rooms overlooking the tropical plants, lawn and the pool. Another larger pool, hot tub, and huge lanai for entertaining is done and beautiful. All condos are individually owned with units very family friendly. Walking distance to Front Street, in a nice quiet section of town. You won't be disappointed.

We will be back, with more people!!!
I didn't dislike anything about my say here. Everything was wonderful. If you haven't been then you need to go. It is so close to where everything is and it is nice and quiet. The room was so beautiful, we felt like we were at home. That is very important to me. I really don't have anything bad to say about this place at all.

Aina Nalu Outrigger formerly Maui Islander - GREAT
February 2007 - I have stayed twice at Aina Nalu in the past month and when I read some of the comments from others I had to write. Aina Nalu has done a complete renovation of this hotel. You can disregard a lot of the old comments. Each unit is now privately owned. I understand that there used to be 360 rooms, and they have enlarged every room now there are only 180. Everything inside in 100% new. I find that the outdoor plantation style look blends in with Lahaina. The landscaping is very nice and the pool area has comfortable lounge chairs and they even have morning coffee and tea along with newspapers out by the pool which we found was a great way to start the day.

Friendly, quiet and clean
The friendly staff gave us te low down on off the beaten path beaches. Bit of a hard sell on the tours, but no offense was taken when I declined. It was very quiet and the gardens were lush. Rooms had a kitchenette, which was perfect for an extended stay. Not for students on spring break, but perfect for couples. One note, you will want a car if you stay here, many of the beaches are driving distance. Close to Front Street in Lahaina, so shopping and eating are a breeze. Not luxurious, but very comfortable and cozy.

The Maui Islander rocks!
I wasn't expecting something so nice when i booked this hotel. It was great! The rooms were clean, nice and extremely comfortable. I loved having a kitchen to be able to make my own food once in a while. The walk to downtown Lahaina was super quick! We could go out to eat or go shopping without any hassel. I always reccomend the Maui Islander to my friends when they go to Maui!

You get what you pay for?
The room was very dirty, old and outdated! We were planning on cooking there to save money, but there was no way we were willing to compromise our health. We did find the bed sheets clean and the bathroom was ok enough to shower the sand off. I guess maybe that is all you need in Maui. I do think the picture is decieving. But if you want a cheap, not so clean hotel that charges for parking, this is your place! We also had pot smokers next to us that we could smell! I would NEVER stay there again!

Went for a wedding
We stayed at the Islander last March for a wedding we attended, what we found was a clean room, GREAT location to Front Street and the beaches only minutes away.. Amenities, let's just say there were none, but who goes to Maui to camp out in the hotel room. Also service was a little disapopointing I borrowed a hairdryer for which I got attitude from the desk, and on two occassions during our stay they took it back with out asking whether I was done with it. Would I stay there again, sure, cheap and easy - did the trick. Was just looking for a clean bed/shower close to where it's happening at a good rate, and I got that. Thinking the next trip will be to Oahu so we can see Waikikki and Honolulu.

Terrible Don't stay here.
Terrible even for the low price. Dirty rooms, air conditioner didn't work, manager raised our room rate after check in.
