Just Like Home
I have been going to the Etel for probably the last 25 years and my parents for more than that. Then found the place while walking down the street and stopping a Manitoba License Plate with gentleman standing beside and ending up talking to him, he showed them his apartment and my parents moved into the Etel the next day and have spent their holidays there ever since. My husband and I were married there 13 years ago in the back garden. They helped us arrange everything without charging us a dime. We usually bring frozen Sockeye Salmon down and have a big bbq around Valentine's Day and every body in the hotel is invited and brings something for the meal. This is a tradition that my Dad started many years ago and a tradition that my husband and I try and keep up. Another one of the things we enjoy is playing cards in the lobby with owner of the hotel every evening at 7:00 pm (if we are not there she sends Fransico to see if we are coming). There are any where from 6 to 16 people playing everynight. They are very accommodating. When we get there they move in another fridge, so we have one for food and one for beer. Very often we are invited to the manager's house for either dinner or ****tails. The owners of the hotel are more like family than hotel manager.
