Loved it!
I stayed at this hotel last June and I loved it. The room was kind of small but it was nice. The location was great. It was only four blocks away from Central Park. I would definately recommend this hotel. Even though it is not the cheapest it is not the most expensive either and it is worth every cent!

Average Hotel
After reading the other reviews, I was surprised that so many of them were negative. I had a decent stay at the hotel. Most things were average. The location is unbeatable. It is right in the heart of everything. It is close to the corner of 55th and Broadway. The size of the room was small, but I expect that most NYC hotels have similar sized rooms.

Loved what we got
My husband and I stayed here during the COLD snap of Jan/04, and had a great time. For such a handy locatation, @$100/night was perfect for us: we're young and just wanted somewhere quiet and safe to sleep. We didn't need much else, so maybe that's why we enjoyed it so much.

Great location for the price!
I stayed at the Moderne for 5 nights. I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel with a convenient location that was clean. View and amenities like room service and concierge were unimportant to me, since I know my way around NYC pretty well and really don't spend a lot of time in my room. Why would you when the whole city is out there to explore?

Good value.. great location
Good location.. friendly staff but rooms very small. Clean and well decorated. TV works well. The hotel has free coffee/tea all day but no coffee shop or other facilities. However, plenty of restaurants nearby.

could be better
well situated - has a bit of hostel feel to it though. good concierge - handy for advice on trips, restaurants etc etc. prices vary wildly and can be ridiculous when you consider the lack of facilities. great irish bar opposite and applejacks diner on corner really handy.

Great value for money
The decor is fun and gives a cleaner impression than the more dated motels in the same price bracket. Unfortunately it can be very noisey if you get a room at the front, but I still think this is the best place in mid-town for under $200.

Don't stay here
I don't expect too much from a room that costs $200 a night in Manhattan. I don't expect a mint on my pillow, room service, workout facilities or a spa. What I do expect, is honest employees, air conditioning that works, and to be treated with a certain amount of respect.

will go back
After making my reservation,I read all the reviews on this site.I was very hesitant to stay there ,but ultimately kept the reservation. The hotel lobby is very small, doesn't have any amenities, and there's no internet connection. If you need to have these things, then don't stay. They also don't have cable t.v..BUT, are you going to visit the best city in the world and watch t.v.? The room size is o.k., and very clean and stylish. There's no view. The very best of this hotel is it's location.
