Back to Best Western Americania it wasn't as bad as they say My family and i stayed here for 5 nights. i was a little worried because i read the reviews after making the reservation so i couldn't cancel. when we arrived the hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. we were so tired from a 3 hour trip from tahoe and just wanted to crash. the hotel took care of our bags checked us in and parked our car for us. we did have to pay for daily parking at the hotel but i guess thats normal for san fran. theres almost never a place to park.and i do have to say we never did want to walk around that area at night. no one ever said it was a bad area but it just looked scary to walk around. but during the day we walked in downtown san fran and did all our shopping. this place really isnt as bad as some have said. its clean and the beds are comfy.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 31 2006 Lovely We reserved 3 rooms for a family trip. All of the rooms were comfortable and clean. It was nice to NOT be in a cookie-cutter hotel - each room was different.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 06 2006 OK but scary neighborhood at night Overall the service was average and the value was good. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is not the best and we were warned by our taxi driver not to walk around at night. I have to say it was even a little scary during the day. In addition, we woke at 1:45am to someone screaming the "F-word" and were later bothered by late Halloween party goers returning home. My advice, stay on Fisherman's Wharf instead.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 03 2005 Couldn't even stay it was so bad! The free parking was a night mare to park, very tight squeeze, was worried the rental car would get dinged, need someone to guide you into parking space. Picture on internet DOES NOT match reality! The real hotel is run down and PINK not brown, the photos are nice on the internet, but be warned it's not what you will get. In very bad area, not safe especially if traveling with kids. Far from downtown. NOT walking distance by far. Did not like entering hotel room from outside door. I too was placed in a smoking room after requesting non-smoking. Seems like that happened to the other people who left reviews. Will never book at a Best Western again after this experience. We had a LOVELY stay at the Hyatt on 555 North Point, perfect location, you walk out and everything is right there.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 09 2005 Thought it was nice This hotel was not overly fancy but the staff was very friendly. The rooms were neat and clean and had a nice cozy feel. They were decorated in a cool mediterranian art deco type them which I liked a lot. Close to Union Square and the night life of San Francisco. Overall I enjoyed it and will definitely stay there again if ever again in San Francisco.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 19 2005 You get what you pay for... It was fine. The service was great, but nothing else stood out. Rooms are dated and ours was smokey (even though we asked for a non-smoking). They tried to sell it like they were giving us an up-grade b/c it was a suite but actually it was just a bigger room that smelled nasty. If your not spending a whole lot of time their, it's the place to be - expecially b/c of the free parking.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 15 2005 Good value Great service from the free parking, to the front desk, to the restaurant. They also have a very nice, FREE, internet service with printing.
