Back to Colony Hotel Great Location Hotel right in the heart of the action but is noisy if retiring for a night before 2am.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 05 2007 Small Room but close to it all The room was a little small, quite a bit of noise in the early morning but so close to the beach and all the nightlife that it was worth a little headache.
Reviewed by: Micki from on Apr 10 2007 Cool place to stay if you like to party! The Colony is definitely not a family place. Since it is right in the middle of South Beach there are a lot of party people that stay there.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 03 2006 Great Hotel The hotel was incredibly well situated - on Ocean Drive across from the beach. Our room was very nice - two double beds, recently refurbished, new carpet, clean and modern.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 17 2005 Stay if you only need a bed for a few hours The location is pretty much the only good thing about this place. When we stayed, the staff was generally rude or unresponsive, with one staff member openly acting put-upon and annoyed when we asked for an extra towel and not giving us the wake-up call we requested. The rooms are kind of cool decor-wise, but not really made for comfort...think of it as a spot you can crash at for a few hours between partying and swimming at the beach. We only booked for one night, and couldn't get out of there fast enough the next morning. It definitely attracts a party clientel, as people were up and about all hours of the evening in the halls. We weren't really expecting all that much from it and had read generally decent reviews about the service, and still it was a big letdown. Some of our friends stayed at the Pelican a few doors down and we kind of regretted that we didn't book a room there.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 03 2005 Great location The Colony hotel is a great place to stay for it's location in south beach. It is literally right on the strip in the heart of the Miami South Beach area.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 26 2005 Awfully Small The rooms were entirely too small, the room wasn't big enough for one person let alone two people. The rooms were outdated and skanky. I felt like I was in a sleezy motel, getting ready to do the do. So you could imagine how the bathroom situation was. I mean if someone burped across the room I could smell in the bathroom that's how close we were. The location was excellent...but the Hotel rooms appeared to be dirty and raunchy......I would not recommend this hotel ever.
Reviewed by: Adrienne L from on May 10 2005 ok to visit but not stay I had asked for a blanket in the middle of the nite and was told that they did not have any extra and that there was one on the bed, which there was not. They told me I would need to change rooms if I wanted a blanket. I told them to just take a blanket off of one of the empty rooms and they said they could not do that. Needless to say I did not get a blanket. The next day I complained to the day manager and got little smpathy from him. When I checked out he looked me up and down and said now you are trying to take one of our blankets out with you. I found them to be very unaccomadating. I would not even want to take one of their blankets because they were pretty ratty looking. The ONLY good thing I have to say about the place was the location.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Mar 01 2005 Great Value/Fun, Fantastic Rooms Upon arriving at the Colony Hotel I was pleasantly surprised by the modestly priced guestrooms that are a tremendous value for the posh decor and amenities this timeless deco lodge delivers. The fresh accents, deluxe contemporary furniture, edgy, oversized flat screens and upgrade quality linens made this quaint landmark hotel feel more like an upscale retreat. I selected the Colony because I wanted to fully experience the South Beach sights and "scene." After experiencing the place myself, I can validate all the hype...this Hotel is the centerpiece of South Beach with its signature oceanfront, vintage art deco silhouette, and captivating neon hue that at night, seems to frame the South Beach strip. It's high-vibe, yet relaxed and unassuming. Rooms are well prepared, clean and reasonably sized and prized. The staff is gracious, helpful and knowledgeable, and the hotel lobby still sports a bit of authentic art deco flare that certainly adds color and character to the place.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 31 2005 This place is a DUMP! This is by far the worst hotel I have ever encountered. The Bed was horrible, paint was falling off of the walls, it was dirty and smelled horrible. Do not stay here!
