Back to Hotel 480 Wonderful! We had a wonderful trip and the staff at this hotel was very attentive. The location is amazing and we would HIGHLY recommend it .
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 11 2009 Worst Marriott - EVER Neighbor's plumbing feels like it's right in your room. The ice machine hummed LOUDLY all evening. They also did not honor the 'upper floor' booking that was made and paid for. No valet outside and parking is extremely difficult in SF/Union Square. This is more like a cheap motel. They should have the Marriott name taken away from them - BTW I am a Marriott's reward member so I have stayed in many.
Reviewed by: Kiki from on Aug 17 2009 Great Location, rooms need updating!! WE LOVED the location of the Hotel. We walked to everything. We even walked to the Warf one day, but you can take a cab for $8.00. Union Square is 2 blocks away literally. The bar and lobby are clean and newer looking, but the rooms are small and really old looking. We wanted a room with a view and did not get one. The lady at the front desk was rude to us after we complained about the view and outdated decor. She said we would have to pay an extra $30.00 a night for a view room that had the same decor. The room service was terrible. We did not get what we ordered, when we asked them to fix it they just reheated the same food we sent back. We had to send it back again and opted for pizza delivery. The bartender, Bell men, and especially Housekeeping went out of their way to accommodate us. We thought they had free internet service, not so, they charge by the minute. We would not stay here again! Oh, and they DO NOT have a Limo service anymore. We had read they did and was looking forward to a ride to dinner one night. I was very disapointed in this Hotel. Not worth the money!!!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 10 2008 Perfect Location for Sightseeing This hotel is the perfect location for sightseeing! You are across the street from the cable car station, two blocks from the 38 bus route, two blocks from Union Square. The BART station is six blocks away which means that you can get to/from the airport for under $6.00 one way. If six blocks is too far to walk with your luggage, then a cab will be less than $6.00 to the BART station and is available on the street in front of the hotel.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 04 2008 Highly Recommend Hotel 480! We just got back from a weekend in San Francisco (Union Square). I can't say enough about it. The rooms were clean and the staff always went out of there way to make us feel as if we were their only guests. The view from our room overlooking Union Square and the entire City was unbelievable. We sat at the bar late one night and received excellent service from Thomas a long timer there. If you are looking for a room in the Union Square area, I highly recommend Hotel 480....soon to become a Marriot though.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Mar 10 2008 excellent There were so many choices of hotels we worried on the right one. We got lucky with this one. The rates were reasonable. The parking fees were high, but for us leaving the car at the door and having someone park it was worth the extra. There is a garage very nearby though if you like. The location is perfect, overlooking Union square with lots of people around even until the late evening (there were a few beggars, nearby, but they were everywhere in SF), never felt unsafe in the area, rooms were very nice. got the view room which was a bit more expensive but it was on a higher floor & thus very quiet. I think the lower floors would be a bit noisy due to the cable cars stopping just outside (they come from Fishermans wharf, so its very convenient). All in all we made a good choice. If you want to know more you can email me if you like, as we were very pleased with it.
Reviewed by: Hassan from on Jan 02 2007 Loved Crown Plaza1 Great location, room with view of bay was awesome! Concierge was so helpful, everyone was very polite and service was great! You can get all over San Fran from here easily. Ask the concierge when you are going around the city and she will give you great tips. Big Bonus, go to Sears Famous Foods across the street for breakfast! Best breakfast in the city, world famous pancakes are amazing!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 16 2006 overpriced Although the hotel was ideally located and the service was pretty good, the hotel had nothing else to offer. The room was clean but the beds were not comfortable and the AC unit did not work. It was cold all the time. There was no privacy as walls were thin and thus you could hear the people in the next room. Meals were exhorbitant, and if you wanted the internet service you had to pay $8/hr plus tax.
Reviewed by: Rick K from on Dec 29 2005 Nice Place Great location. Health club had the best equipment of any hotel that I stayed in! Rooms are small, but I had an excellent view looking North from the 24th floor (the higher the better). The high speed internet in all rooms is only if you pay for it at $10 per day or $35.99 per week (the speed was good). Food prices in the hotel were very expensive, however, plenty of places to eat nearby.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 26 2005 Excitement in the Heart of it All! The Crowne Plaza San Francisco was a charming hotel in the heart of downtown. Great hospitality and reasonably priced. We had an awesome view of the city from our room. Courteous staff and a great location make this hotel a favorite!
