Beautiful Hotel
I was there from 10-14 thru 10-21 upon arriving we were upgraded to a ocean view room, which was amazing!! The staff was very nice always willing to help and answer questions. Our room was always clean. We spent 4 days at the beach it was very nice. Old San Juan is only 15 min away a $20 cab ride. If your looking for good authentic food I highly recommend eatting at Cafe Puerto Rico. The food was outstanding and prices were cheap and portions were huge!!! Old San Juan is worth checking out just be prepared to do a lot of walking and I wouldn't walk through OSJ at night. Food and Drink prices just about killed our vacation. Everything is very expensive you think you are saving money eatting at burger king and end up spending $15 on two people!!!!!! Their is really nothing around the hotel to do other then beach and see other hotels. The streets were torn up and the grocery store is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. As long as you stay by the hotel you will be fine. It's fine to walk around the areas by the hotel at night. Again a very nice hotel I would stay again. Oh I almost forgot the pool was awesome!! They just redid it right before we got there. Just remember the prices are sky high so bring extra money. And wear your sunscreen I made that mistake on our 5 day and it ruined the rest of the trip. I had second degree burns on the back and stomach.

The Pool Was Under Construction!
I stayed at the InterContinental September 2009. When I checked in it was brough to my attention that the pool was under construction. This made me very upset. If I was given this information when I made my reservation I would have booked with another hotel. I was on a much needed vacation. I was looking forward to laying at the pool and sitting at the pool bar. The next time I make reservations to stay at a hotel that has a pool I will be sure to ask if the pool is in working condition. Lesson learned! On a positive note the concierge Josell was very friendly and helpfull.

Theft and Poor Customer Service
Room service stole my blackberry from our locked hotel room-The Americas Guest Services department said that since it wasn't in a safe they weren't responsible for their employee taking it. Really? Are they somehow exempt from laws against theft? Three people at the hotel including a supervisor of security and member of management all said they would call back after reviewing the situation-that was two weeks ago-----nothing has happenned. Also-they don't mention that you'll be charged something like $15 a day for services including towels and internet. As for the internet-we never had a connection. We complained about that the 1st day and as apparently is their standard practice they said they'd have someone called to fix it but never did. The cable also never had a clear picture the entire time we were there. Of course, we requested someone check on that and again were told it would be resolved but it never was. BTW, the casino is exceptionally small.

Had a great stay!!!
I stayed at the Intercontinental on April 2009 in the middle of spring break for most people.. I stayed for six days and I have to say that I loved the service and the people working there. We had aroom with ocean view and the view to die for ...The first morning after we had arrived we opened the curtains and the view was like something out of a postcard. Breath taking really! I'm a native puerto rican and have never stayed at a hotel of this class. i've always stayed with family on the island. But this hotel is worth the money if you want to stay like a king or queen with your family. The hotel is very kid friendly and they had tons of actives for the kids to do. And the staff was super nice to my kids and to us. Also they were also ready to help you if you needed help or need something. And the beach at the back of the hotel was beautiful.. the only negative thing about hotel is the cost of food at restaurants in hotels .. It was cheaper for us to eat outside the hotel then at the restaurant.

Stay Away if Possible
I loved the proximity to the beach the four star atmosphere but I disliked the hospitality and the identity theft issue that to date has remained unresolved.

Amazing Trip
The Intercontinental San Juan is a wonderful resort the rooms and bed are fantastic, the service at the restaurants and bars on site was excellent. The pool area is amazing and the beach was perfect. We went the first of April and the weather could not have been more perfect, 87 degrees and sunny every day. Hit the local restaurants the food is great. Old Town San Juan is amazing and the forts are truly something to see, a walk back in time. The only drawback of San Juan is the price of food, couldn't find a meal for under $20 bucks. We booked our trip through Priceline and paid $600 per person airfare and hotel.

Won't Return
Recently we had our second visit to the Intercontinental,San Juan,PR. We booked our trip through a Yahoo travel site. Our trip was postponed 2 days due to a snow storm in the Atlanta area. I immediately notified the hotel directly about the weather circumstances beyond my control and inquired about a credit or extending my stay 2 more days in exchange for the 2 days we lost. I contacted several managers at the hotel and got nowhere. They refused to give me any credit or any consideration for our situation.

Very expensive could wait to leave
Hotel is very beautiful and the hotel workers are very helpful and nice. But on the premises you are not allowed to bring outside food to their pool area only out to the public beach are you able to eat outside food. They want you to eat and drink from their restaurants on site. My husband order three drinks for my friends and me and chicken with french fries from the hotel it cost $50.00 plus. They double tax you, you get charged city and state tax on all your food and clothing. the hotel offer continental breakfast in the amount of $18.00 and a full breakfast cost $22.00. Oh and get this the offer all inclusive in the amount of $6000.00 p/p.

TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
My wife and I just got back from there on a 6 night stay (08/02-/08/08 2008). The airport is about a 5 minute cab ride or less and cost us $14. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, very polite & as friendly as could be expected. We had an ocean front king on the 11th floor. The bed was super soft and the view outstanding! Our bathroom was a bit funky but we were on vacation and didn't care. The food was average & yes it is expensive but ask the concierge for good places close by and everything they recommended was perfect! Everything costs more on vacation right? There is a new Chili's restaurant under construction just down the street, Subway, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Church's chicken, Basken Robins & Starbucks & Wallgreens are all within walking distance so you should be set. Ruth Chris was a little under $200 for both of us and we each had a few beers, filets, 2 appetizers and some sides (including tip).
