It is not only my favorite hotel in Ireland, it's my favorite hotel anywhere. Staff, setting, class, food, rooms, amenities and less than 10 minutes to downtown. Much more relaxing than staying in downtown Galway and the folks -- and history of the abbey -- are just wonderful. Thank heavens it's not one of those touristy castles to which another reviewer referred!

However, compared to some of the five star hotels, it lacked some amenities. Of course it is not Ashford Castle, but its location on the Lough and close proximity to Galway city center make it a great base of operations.
