Happy to stay there, and to recommend it
Downtown Chicago is full of over-priced hotels with bad service and poor room quality. The Kimpton Allegro is a nice change of pace to all of that.

Excellent Experience
This hotel was an excellent choice for us. Yes, the rooms are on the small size, but still adequate. Recently remodel everything was new and in great shape. The service from the front desk and others was very good, friendly and helpful. The 5 pm wine reception was a nice extra. We found a great rate on Perfect Escapes (vial Yahoo) at $111.

Great Hotel..Great Price
My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend downtown Chicago and the hotel was great. Wonderful concierge service that went above an beyond to find a entertainment. Beautiful rooms. and the bed was sooo comfortable that I slept better than I do at home. Hotel decor stands out and feels luxurious. Great place..we will return to stay here again.

Great in some areas, Poor in others
First, the positive: The location is great, the staff was very friendly and polite, and the free wi-fi, free wine reception and cleanliness is great. The room service menu is very nice and the prices are not as bad as some other hotels.

Third time, still charming
I've been here three times and still can't believe how unique and marvelous this hotel is; really, the entire kimpton boutique hotel experience is so personal and different, i'll always look to stay in one before some mass chain.

Interesting but a no-go for me
This hotel is rather stupid to be frank. It's a horrible attempt to be retro-sheek but ends up looking similar to that Saturday Night live skit where things are so sheek that they are not functional. The rooms are about the size of a shoe box and there isn't much in them. I actually like the Pedestal in the bathroom but there is no sink. I had to put my make-up on using the toliet for 5-days. It also took me 10-minutes to figure out how to turn on the shower and the bathroom is more like a closet then anything. I had guests over one evening and everyone could hear everyone pee b/c the bathroom doors aren't doors at all and there is no bathroom fan! It was just over the top for me and lots of costruction nearby to keep you up at night. On a good note, the staff are really friendly and the place is really clean. That's about the only good thing I can say about this place. I would not go back.

Great hotel!!!
I have stayed here several times while working in Chicago - I LOVE THIS HOTEL!!! It is my favorite in Chicago. It's not what I would consider a family friendly hotel as the rooms are small, but if you are by yourself, the rooms are delightful. I would use this also for a romantic getaway hotel - the decor is so original. Great location in Chicago too

Charming hotel
The Allegro Hotel was the perfect spot to stay in the heart of theatre district in Chicago - able to walk to the Oriental Theatre to see Wicked! Close to trains, but all the shops around the hotel were closed on Sunday and Monday for Labor Day weekend. No restaurants or bars within walking distance. Great Aveda products in rooms - love the bed! So comfortable!! The walls were a little thin and could hear the party next door! The service when we checked in and out was quick and efficient, but trying to contact someone at the front desk was impossible. Great decor inside, rooms are a little small. I'd recommend the Allegro Hotel for the price and location downtown.

a true gem
It is in the loop, and near the river of Chicago and many theaters and businesses. They manage to have a decorum that can be viewed as very sexy as well as very business appropriate. Don’t ask me how they do it, but they do. They have free wi-fi access for your laptop. You’ll enjoy the nightly wine hour and the manager’s reception. Walking distance to shopping on state street although a little longer to Water-Tower and Sears Tower. Close to shuttles to Field museum, Aquarium and the Planetarium. You’ll be treated like royalty. And whether you’re a hotel guest, on a hot date or have a business meal, you must be sure to eat at 312 Allegro, their dining room. Mediterranean style food that is unique and delicious, well presented and seasonally changing menu that guarantees you’ll want to come back. Desserts made fresh daily on the premises also giving a great Mediterranean flavor in a great atmosphere. And if you want to add a true touch of Mediterranean dining, your wait-person will gladly recommend the proper wines for your meal selection.

Adorable & perfect for the theater crowd!
The hotel theme is perfect for the theater crowd - and in the perfect location as well. Rooms are small, but nice. There is a nightly reception in the lobby, but come dressed for it.
