Luxury in a great location
This is a great place if you fancy a splurge. Rooms are beautiful, although ours was not that large. We had patio doors opening on to a courtyard with chairs if you wished to sit out there with a drink or just to relax. We had room service one night as my husband was unwell and it was a very pleasant experience as the rooms are immaculate & extremely comfortable. We tried the Gourmet menu in the restaurant one night and it was magnificent. Lots of small courses with aperitif & wine to go with it. Expensive, but worth every penny. The staff were great. I would recommend this superbly sited hotel for any special occasion.

The room, view and bathroom blew be away.
I was using up some Sheraton points on a side trip to Amsterdam. It's a great city to walk. My room was at the end of an up and down hallway that was not catering to disabled because of the nature of the hotel. It's a collection of houses turned into a fantastic adventure. I even had a doorbell. The room had a balcony with French doors and a hallway leading to a bathroom that anyone would love. I was alone but I could get as many as six people into the shower. Even though I was in Amsterdam I bought a bottle of wine and some cheese and sat on the balcony all afternoon watching the canal activity. The location was excellent as I could get to popular squares, restaurants and art gallaries in minutes by walking. It's off the beaten path but well worth the extra cost. It's in my top ten.

Staff needs training
The hotel itself is average OK, no great shakes for a 5 star hotel. My room was probably the smallest in the hotel, tiny window with a bad view of the courtyard – not much bigger then the size of the bed. And make sure you are not placed too close to the lifts as I could hear them all night. Granted, the hotel is near the center and right on a canal, but these facts certainly don’t make it 5 Star. My biggest complaint and the reason I am writing this is that I found the staff to be untrained, unhelpful and snooty. The issue was that I requested checkout one day prior to my scheduled departure, the person behind the counter told this was OK and no charge would be levied. However, when I did checkout the extra night charge was placed on my bill – along with the fee for the entire mini bar, which I did not use. When I mentioned the mini bar the women said this happens all the time. Also, when I complained to two of the managers about the extra night no refund was offered – even though I pointed out that this was discussed the previous day. To date no refund has been given and no apologies either. Now I have heard the Dutch can be cheap – but bad at business? So if you decide to stay here, make sure your bill is correct AND that the information you are receiving from the staff is accurate! If you want luxury, you had better look elsewhere!

Excellent surprise!
I booked by chance it because I had a night to spend there due to a connection and could change my flight to visit the city; I liked the location and found it mainly because of the fact it belongs to the Starwood Brands.

Pulitzer Prize
The Pulitzer is loacted on the Prinsengracht canel just one block away from the West Church and the Anne Frank house. The hotel is made up of several old bulidings connected to each other by a glass passage way. Recently renovated, the Pulitzer has offers all the modern ameneties. Should you chose to stay at the Pulitzer, be sure to visit restaurant Het Werck which is just a few doors down the street.
