RUDDDDEEEE STAFF and shitty beach
staph is all from Russia or Croatia and are extremely rude and snooty. Their lil Island has a TINY lil swim area with dirty sand and about 100 feet of beach front with MINIMAL swimming area. Have to wait for the Ferry for about 30 mins in scorching hot sun. Resturaunt sucks... and STAFF SUCKED BIG TIME!!! Rooms are crappy. we transfered to the Santa Maria which was a better deal.... closer to a beach and very Private and modern!! I would NEVER EVER go back here or recommend it to ANYONE!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Voted one of the top 500 hotels in the world.
My family just got back from the Sunset Key and we are truly amazed. We love to travel and did some pretty adventurous and high end vacation pre-kids, but with a 2 year old and a 5 month old we did not want to stray from the States. After a little research we found the Sunset Key Cottages and have found paradise in the US. From the moment we arrived on the mainland (Key West) we were treated like royalty. The boat to the Sunset Key was there waiting for us and after a breathtaking 5 minute ride we were greeted by the concierge (Karen) and whisked to our cottage (The Lighthouse). The cottage (or house as my 2 year old called it) was impeccable. The three bathrooms, two bedrooms, full kitchen and living area are perfect. You can have the hotel stock your kitchen with what ever you need and everything we ordered was ready and waiting for us upon our arrival. The grounds are spectacular with views of the water from almost every vantage point. The pool and beach were both fantastic. Every morning a breakfast basket arrived at our cottage with muffins, fruit and the newspaper and at night the food and fun of Key West is a simple boat ride away. This is a must for anyone!

Well worth the money!
Perfeclty kept landscape, food on island was excellent, morning breakfast basket with wonderful cranberry muffins, fresh baked breads and complimentary newspaper left at doorstep daily, clean private beach, concierge service was great, boat transport service was always available...No complaints from us.

We can't wait to go back!
We honeymooned at Sunset Key and really enjoyed ourselves. We had read the bad reviews and didn't expect much, but we were pleasantly surprised. The location was amazing! Loved the ferry to Key West and the captains were quite knowledgeable about all the fish. The Sunset Key restaurant was nothing special but there are plenty of choices in Key West. The staff on the island were unhelpful and a bit of a gong show. The managers were out to lunch, the beach attendants were so put out if you asked for a towel or anything! The bartender at the pool was nice, very chatty. However the service issues become a mute point when you are sitting on your wrap around deck looking out on the ocean drinking some wine, enjoying a book with the birds and the breeze the only thing you hear. Can't wait to return.

Paradise
This is one of my favorite places on the planet. Key West is a mob scene, but Sunset Key is heaven on earth. Beautiful cottages, restaurant, and beaches.

No Longer a Luxury Resort
I have stayed at Sunset Key 3 times. Twice in 2000 and once in 2006. I loved the resort when I stayed there in 2000, but now in 2006, I cannot recommend this resort any longer.

Can't wait to imspire the cool ocean breezzee
Traveling to exotic places for romantic vacations. Key West has it's advantages! Even if it rains the whole time I'm there, I'll stay in bed with my lover and eat lots of Ice Cream. Now that's what I call a romantic weekend.
