Above and Beyond Service
The Taj is beautiful and both the restaurant and bar are great (the warm nuts and olives during happy hour are incedible), but what really distinquishes this hotel is the service. The entire staff goes out of their way to assist you. They even loaned me a laptop to use when mine personal one couldn't get internet. I would stay again.

An essential part of your India trip
I was set up to stay at the Taj Residency Bangalore and stayed there for about 3 1/2 weeks, with weekend stays at the Taj Exotica in Goa and the Oberoi in Agra. The Taj hotels practice what they preach; excellent customer service, delicious food, gorgeous amentities and reasonable prices. You'll have higher rates in peak season, but these hotels are well worth it. Some hidden surprises where how helpful the staff were, running to get souvenirs for me that I couldn't find, setting up DHL to come to the hotel to coordinate shipping items and providing reccomendations on things to do and places to see. I plan to go back to India and stay at the Mumbai/Dehli locations.

Restaurant has slipped badly
Until this year we found the restaurant to be one of the very best in SF and dined there many times. In May '06 we had one of the finest dinners ever--on a par with Michael Mina and Gary Danko. In May '07 we returned and were terribly disappointed. The new chef has ruined it. The choices on the prix fixe menu were limited and oddly priced. A $10 surcharge for lamb and no beef unless for a table of 3 or more. Bizarre! I prefer small portions but not the skimpy ones we were served. Our captain/waiter was knowledgeable and gracious but over-extended with too many tables. She wasn't able to give us the service we expected and which, I am sure, she would have liked to give. We shall certainly not return until and unless they find a new and competent chef.

Great Hotel
I'm from San Francisco, but have been living away for quite some time now. I've always wanted to try the Campton Hotel, and so this last trip home a few weeks ago I did. What a great hotel. Obviously, the location is perfect. But from the bellmen greeting you at the door, to the VERY helpful and gracious front desk staff, to the beautiful open-floor hallways, everything appears first class. While I received a room away from the elevators (as requested), some of the other rooms nearer the elevators appeared a bit small and may be noisy. But my room, while also a little small, was beautifully appointed. At finer hotels, I like to order room service and just relax, and so I did here. The room service food was surprisingly unbelievable. I ordered a light meal with a glass of wine, and the wine came in a very expensive, beautiful fine wine glass. With so many top hotels seemingly worried about in-room theft, it was refreshing to see a top hotel actually trust and treat its guests with respect and fine appointments. There are many top hotels in San Francisco and other major cities which could learn a lot from this hotel and the way it treats its guests and operates its business. Unfortunately, these other hotels will never do that, choosing instead to live off the laurels of their past or try to hood-wink us with run-down furnishings, phony accents and obnoxious attitudes. This hotel is the real deal, and I highly recommend it.

Sorry SF-Never going back
We loved the hotel and wished it were placed someplace else. Sadly, the city and it's citizens were the big downer for our visit.

Very great deal
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Want to be treated like royalty?
What a relaxing weekend we had when we went back to San Francisco, our hometown for a family reunion. We stayed at the Campton Place and boy, what a treat. The rooms were comfortable, the beds helped you melt into sleep. Service was impeccable, they anticipated our needs before we even knew it was a need....

Great Dine About Town Participant
Very seldom restaurants perform the same quality of food in Dine About Town event as their more expensive charges, Campton Place is the exception. Although Campton Place only offered lunch in the program, it lived up to its good quality of work.
