Losing the plot
This used to be an excellent hotel with superb service in both the hotel and art deco style restaurant, but recently it has fallen by the wayside. Service is shoddy and this is a shame as it is a wonderfully located hotel and the dining room is quite stunning. I chose not to stay there on my last visit due to the decline, but took some friends there for lunch as the surroundings are beautiful. Service started off well and I hoped things had changed, but it very quickly went down hill unfortunately. There are too many other nice hotels in Amsterdam to have to put up with what they are currently offering at the American Hotel.
Would you recommend this to a friend?
No
Why? / Why Not?
Not what it used to be.

BEWARE!!!
