Hogmanay, or New Year's Eve, is one of Scotland's most famous traditions. Celebrations spread over all the cities and as Scotland's largest, it's no surprise that Glasgow's knees-up rivals the capital's party. The bash centres around George Square, where local bands provide the music, ceilidhs exercise and excitable limbs and fireworks light up the sky on the stroke of midnight. With DJs in Merchant City and stages everywhere, Glasgow turns into a true revel-fest! Admission is free, but tickets are required for access to certain areas, such as George Square.
