The major race meeting of the festive season, the Stan James Christmas Festival is one of steeplechasing's most prestigious events. The race was first run in 1937 and has since hosted many of the most famous names in racing, notably Desert Orchid, who won the event four times between 1986 and 1990. Set in parkland in Sunbury, Kempton Park is generally regarded as London's racecourse, and has undergone major redevelopment over recent years. Admission: GBP15.50.
