Waterville Golf Links first real development came when the transatlantic cable was being laid in the 1880s. Hundreds of technicians and workers arrived in Waterville and used a nine hole links for recreation. The modern 18-hole links, spanning 7184 yards (6531m), are the work of Eddie Hackett and John Mulcahy. Beautifully sited on the shores of Ballinskellig's Bay, the links are popular with many professionals. Ray Floyd lists them as one of his World Top Five courses. The late Payne Stewart was a frequent visitor and a statue commemorating his association with the club is on the ninth green. The Club House facilities include club hire, cart hire, shop, bar, and restaurant.
