This 13th century Cistercian abbey was founded in 1246. Although it now lies in ruins, it is still a fine edifice; particularly impressive are the remains of the cloistered arches. There is a shop on the site and a museum that has a display of carvings. This would be a great place to bring children eager for a hands-on approach to history. Hailes Abbey lies in a rural area near to the Cotswolds and is less than an hour's drive from Birmingham.Colorado Vacation GiveawayEnter for your chance to win a Colorado Vacation! www.ColoradoTourism.com
