Back to Caribe Hilton San Juan Not worth the price This hotel is overpriced for what you get. It is a old hotel that has been renovated and added on to many times. The rooms are nothing special, just average. The resturants are also average and overpriced.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 16 2009 Would return again if I just wanted to relax This is a very nice hotel looks renovated rooms up to par bathroom nice until you pull back shower curtain (pink tile out-of-date and faucet dripped all nite long). I would stay here again and recommend to others. Staff was very helpful and nice. Breakfast buffet is on the expensive side $26 pp. Drinks at bar are expensive 2 Margaritas $26 at out side bar. Overall enjoyed entire stay. Was worth the money but would eat off property to save money. Pool area nice they even have hammocks to relax in. Convinent to Old San Juan only a few miles nothing really in walking distance to eat only a Subway and another local restaurant. Stayed from May 31-June 3, 2009
Reviewed by: RhondaP from on Jun 13 2009 I'm not coming back I found this experience to be less than satisfying. This particular property was dirty, overpriced, not maintained and the food was just average. I've always been satisfied with Hilton family hotels however this one needs some major improvements. It started with my room. The room was dirty, towels were brown in color instead of white and on my second night, the shower know broke completely and maintenance finally replaced it 2 hours later. The room rate was expensive and the view from my room was the roof and a glimpse of the ocean if I stood at the absolute end of the balcony. Everything was overpriced in the hotel and the food was awful. I won't be back and I'm thinking about cancelling my HHonors membership.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 12 2009 Kind of fun... This place was fun, but not up to out expectations. Nice for unexperienced travelers. Beach was nice, as were the hammocks, but the pools, though extensive, we not kept clean. The grounds were also mostly neglected. Restaurants were good, not great, and very expensive. Room had a nice balcony, but was cramped and uninviting. Old San Juan was the highlight of the trip. There is a restaurant called Marmalade in Old San Juan. That is an amazing restaurant. You must go there!
Reviewed by: Caramel from on May 06 2009 A Wonderful Stay! O.K. The food was expensive and the lunch menu got a bit boring. The hotel charges $20.00 a day for valet parking which is just crazy, but if you just want to relax and lay in the sun all day & night, you don't need a car. The staff is great and helpful, the view from most of the rooms were breath taking. One can even sunbath from the balcony. The breakfast buffet is reasonably priced and delicious and the spa is also reasonably priced and worth visiting. In the lobby you always find a cab waiting to take you where ever you want to go for about $12.00 within a reasonable distance. The night time walks by the private beach and pool are amazing and the Starbucks in the lobby that is open until about 11:00pm is a lifesaver. A wonderful and worth wild trip. I have read some negative review before and after my stay @ the Caribe.... but I'm glad I followed my instinct because it was WONDERFUL!
Reviewed by: MF04 from on Apr 18 2009 It is truly AMAZING!...Trust Me! This place is outstanding. This was our third stay at the hotel. The staff members are extraordinary and helpful. If you want room service in the morning, I highly recommend the Abuelita's Avena (oatmeal). It is great. THe pool is great, and the beach is small but private, which is a major plus. At night, if you set on the beach chairs that face the water, you'll feel a great breeze and feel at ease. If you find the food to be expensive, which is understandable, there is a Subway right across from the resort. Being a NEw YOrker, I have no problem eating Subway for lunch =).
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 21 2009 You can do better. We stayed at the Caribe at the suggestion of a friend and because it was close to the cruise port. We payed $400 a night - which didn't include a resort fee of and taxes - which put the hotel at over $500 night. It did include breakfast - which consisted of pastries and cereal. They did have another restaurant with a more robust offering - which the manager said would be an additional $10 per person. After complaining about the screaming baby at night and the poor breakfast selection - he finaly agreed to comp us to the "better" breakfast.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 08 2009 Excellent hotel I'm not sure where some other reviewers stayed but a friend and I stayed here back in 2005 for 10 days and EVERYTHING was excellent. The resteraunts are a a bit pricey but we enjoyed eating at the "buffet resteraunt"...the Tapas place was nice old Spanish style and the food was great and the people greater but it was a bit pricey...but then if you are going to P.R. PLEASE try the local cuisine...it is REAL Puerto Rican food. Yellow rice, roast pork shoulder (pernil), pasteles, mofongo, tostones, the seafood (hello you are on a Caribbean island.) THAT is what you eat. My friend and myself only ate at the hotel when we were lazy or else we would head out to El Condado or Old San Juan for really good eats. And down the block from the hotel there is a lil sandwich place that was really good and cheap...they give you huge sandwiches for like $5. My friend and I would share one because they were HUGE! ...Again this hotel was awesome...great service and staff and the tour desk had some great tours and the staff was very friendly...I have gone to PR several times before but was the first visit as a "tourist" and I had an AMAZING time and it was partially because of this fabulous place. After some really cool tours having dinner just relaxing on the balcony seeing that beautiful ocean view or just sitting by the pool or in the nice warm pool in the night when nobody else was around was great. Just chilling there with a nice drink from the bar and listening to some live music while feeling that wonderful warm Caribbean Ocean breeze and being serenaded by the Coquis who could ask for more.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 05 2008 Gret place for relaxation! No problems here. Everything was great. Be careful what you wear to some of the restaurants. There are some dress codes. It was cool, calm and quiet. We went Jan 8 - Jan 14, 2008.
