Berlin is the capital city in many respects. According to the organizers of the Hanfparade (Hemp Parade), it is also the capital of the cannabis legalization movement. Every summer, a procession of colorfully decorated floats chugs through the Brandenburg Gate accompanied by thousands of revelers crying out for legalization. The event is not just about getting stoned, but also about the free use of cannabis for medicinal and other purposes. Nevertheless, pleasure seems to be pretty high on the agenda with plenty of dancing, hemp beer consumption and joints, which are mercifully ignored by the police.
