Dissapointing experienced
I just came back from Havana, and had lunch in Al Medina restaurant two days ago. Chose this place taking in consideration that Cuba had a large and influential Arab, mainly Lebanese community, years ago, and still many of its descendents live in the island, so I thought they should had a good chef and good food. Anyways, it was DISGUSTING, I can´t tell how dissapointing it was to pay for such a horrendous meal. Nothing was what it was supposed to be: the tabboule did not look or tasted like it, it did not even had parsley on it! The chicken on the kebab was all skin and fat, no meat whatsoever. The falafel and the hummus did not tasted like garbanzo beans at all. And they did not even bother to warm the pita bread a little bit at least. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone going to Cuba, less if you are Arab, Lebanse and/or have a good knowledge of Lebanese food, because the experience is disgusting. And I don´t accept them blaming this on the economic situation of the country, or the embargo, or whatever, because if there is something that characterizes Lebanese food is the simplicity of its ingredients.
