The Courtauld Institute is a fabulous private gallery that has been compared with New York's Frick Collection. Here you will find one of the world's best collections of impressionist art, admirably housed in Somerset House, a stunning 18th century building that is among London's most beautiful structures. The Institute is a premier center for the study of the history of western art, and is one of the top art history institutes in the world.
