Six of us having enjoyed a walk on Rue des Anglais chanced upon Le Comptoir on our last evening in Nice. The restaurant was very quiet when we sat down, leaving us wondering what we might expect. However, by the time we were leaving two hours later we agreed that we had struck gold - marvellous ambience, classy decor and excellent food that we have no hesitation in recommending.

We discovered Le Comptoir quite by accident as we picked a random street to walk town at dinner time. It was a fortuitous discovery, though, as it was our best dinner of the week. They seem to specialize in la cuisine niçoise but there was plenty of French cuisine, too. We had some of each. Their tapenade was the best I've had and our entrees and plats were excellent, too.
