A walk along this beach is most interesting, since it has been partially covered by dried mud and cooled volcanic material washed down from the Soufriere Hills Volcano after heavy rain. As you walk along the beach you can pick up pieces of pumice and burned tree wood. It's sandy by the water line however, and although somewhat stony in places under the water is still great for swimming. The beach is quite safe except after heavy rain, when, when it is possible for further mud flows to occur.
