The Dolphin Inn occupies an enviable position overlooking the canal on the west side of the city. Having been crowned 'Best Pub in the South West' in 1999, it draws a lot of trade from locals and tourists alike, who enjoy a quiet drink in the beer garden and watch the boats glide by. The beer garden is equipped with a play area for the kiddies, and in warm weather a bouncy castle is erected, leaving parents to enjoy a few moments of peace. The Dolphin Inn offers a good selection of beers and the food is of an excellent standard and very affordable. Expect to pay £6 per head for a two course meal. Quiz nights are regularly held with profits going to charity, and look out for BBQ night on Friday or Saturday evenings when the weather permits.
