Audio Guide This museum is the oldest in the city. It opened in 1882 as the Museu Martorell because a geologist, Francesc Martorell, donated his collection to found it. You'll see scale models of Montseny Nature Reserve (in Barcelona province) and the volcanic area of La Garrotxa (in Girona province). There's also an interesting collection of minerals and palaeontology that includes fossilized plants and animals more than 120 million years old from Spain and other parts of Europe. It's worth combining a visit to this museum with a trip to the Museu de Zoologia.
