Back to Santa Maria in Cosmedin Valentine's Day Surprise Last Valentine's day, I was in Rome with a few friends. We had our hearts set (no pun intended) on visiting the Mouth of Truth a la Roman Holiday, so we did. And there, we found ourselves outside a small church (Santa Maria in Cosmedin), so we went in to check it out. Turned out to be a Melkite Church (ie, for Lebanese Catholic types... eg my family) complete with relics. And by "relics" I mean the skull and several other rotted bones of the Saint himself. They had it all under glass, complete with a red cushion and a crown of roses. This was all complete coincidence, that we stumbled across this on St. Valentine's day.
