Great view Great view, but we had to ask to have the window cleaned in order to see! The inn is very tired. It needs a lot of work. The pictures on the web site must be 20 years old! and it looks like they haven't done anything since. The staff was very nice and helpful. They booked a table at a nice resturant for us. The location is great, but they really need to upgrade everything. It's within walking distance of shops and food. Would you recommend this to a friend? No
Why? / Why Not? My friends expect better. (so do I). This might be OK for half the price, but for what they're asking it should be much better
RUSTY, MUSTY, DUSTY DUMP! HA HA HA...The bathroom door fell off the track and the shower did not have running water. Windows throughout the suite were missing screens and window sills had 20-plus dead flies. No central air/heat, just noisey rusty window units propped up on bricks. Had no oven/stove in kitchen efficiency. The ONE gas grill had no propane gas (patrons pooled money together to purchase a tank of propane). Ceiling fans did not work. Also, we had to stand on chairs to turn on the lights (no wall switches). Pool shower handle is broken/rusty and only the lower foot area has running water. The Deluxe Continental Breakfast consisted of poor quality apples and oranges, watery coffee and one loaf of white bread. I never found the hammock (as shown on their website photo). Staff never heard of the "Welcome Drink voucher" as stated on the website. Bikes? internet? Remodeled? HA HA HA......what a $167.00 per night joke! The four of us made lemonade out of lemons - and I still crack up laughing as I share this experience with my neighbors and friends. Still laughing in disbelief. Unbelievable, really unbelievable !

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 10 2008 A great quiet place to stay My husband and I stayed here for a romantic getaway. It was the perfect place for an older couple looking to get away from a hectic life and kids for a couple of days. It has a great location right on the beach with great restuarants near by. There is a need for repairs but we saw work being done. This is an old inn not new and fancy. It's very quiet and not a place where children would probably enjoy staying -especially older ones.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 22 2007 AWESOME Having traveled a lot we understand that the great memories that you make are made because of people you meet and the way they make you feel. A week at the Inn was like going to camp with your best friends, even though we knew no one when we first arrived we soon met everyone who left their room. Maybe we were all just lucky that all the guest were genuinely great people. We met a diving group from Long Island and a couple from Germany and some folks from the UK,,,Great people each and everyone of them.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 11 2007 Greatly in need of renovation The pictures on their website and elsewhere online do not depict the condition of this hotel. It is very run down, the staff seem unmotivated and the breakfast was minimal at best. Lauderdale by the sea is, in general, run down and all accomodation is in need of improvement -- shame on them for charging that kind of money to stay there.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 24 2007 An "Old Florida" experience Spent four nights here. Nice low-key beach town, great beach. Hotel is what I'd call "shabby-chic." It could and should be cleaner and needs some repair and cosmetic work. Our bed (which was comfortable) was not made up the last night. The room we stayed in (302) had a standing floor air conditioner which, unfortunately, did nothing to cool the air at night. We complained the next morning and were told that the problem would be fixed that day, but nothing was done. We asked for the fan from the hotel office and that helped. They did take something off the room price for the first night. There are nicer-looking places, but they're probably more expensive.
