Back to Chez Dominique USA visitor remarks Great room, great location, good food. Lots of Finland glass and table settings, if you are into looking at that. By USA standards Chez D serves slow. There are at least 3 "foam laden" amuse bouche. They tried to serve a 2001 wine in place of a 2000 wine, without announcing it, and then waited forever to explain what they were doing about it. No complimentary desert, which is strange. The main room holds 16 tables, 4 2 tops on banquettes, 4 2 tops in the middle of the room and 4 group tables that can fit anywhere from 2-8 I think. I don't think any table is especially good or bad in terms of placement. Looks like there is a great private dining room here. The kitchen door is placed in the middle of the room and despite the high tech way in which the door opens, it is a distraction. But, for Helsinki, this is probably as good as you can get. In NYC, the service would be a problem. The wine is completely European, esp French. Decent plus job, but not the "time of your life" event that I was expecting given their press.
