Great room, great location, good food. Lots of Finland glass and table settings, if you are into looking at that. By USA standards Chez D serves slow. There are at least 3 "foam laden" amuse bouche. They tried to serve a 2001 wine in place of a 2000 wine, without announcing it, and then waited forever to explain what they were doing about it. No complimentary desert, which is strange. The main room holds 16 tables, 4 2 tops on banquettes, 4 2 tops in the middle of the room and 4 group tables that can fit anywhere from 2-8 I think. I don't think any table is especially good or bad in terms of placement. Looks like there is a great private dining room here. The kitchen door is placed in the middle of the room and despite the high tech way in which the door opens, it is a distraction. But, for Helsinki, this is probably as good as you can get. In NYC, the service would be a problem. The wine is completely European, esp French. Decent plus job, but not the "time of your life" event that I was expecting given their press.

The menu was a surprise! They wont tell u whats coming. but I ordered 9 surprise menu which was 129 euros and 119 euros of wine which was picked by the sommerliar to pair with the food. I ve the experience of eating the food of six three stars michelin chef. Only three out of six can be beat this chef.
