If you're at Rathenauplatz, checking out the many good bars around the small park, it's worth visiting the Vampire, though you'll tend to fit in better if you're female, good-looking, and lesbian. The bar is mixed, also with plenty of men accompanied by men, and you won't get mean looks if you happen to be hetero. The decor is a very nice, dark shade of red, and dimly lit. A selection of cocktails and normal kölsch (a local beer) provide refreshment. And few other bars in Cologne can you find so many women and men sitting so peacefully together, yet separate.
