Back to Fort Lauderdale Grande A very pleasant experience for us and our dog My husband and I traveled for the 1st time with our newly adopted dog and had a very pleasant two night stay here at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina.
Reviewed by: SuetH from on Jul 19 2009 not worth it We stayed there while waiting for a cruise. We had booked a water view room, and they stuck us in a room overlooking the parking lot. The shaggy carpet type styling in the lobby is weird, service nonexistent and the breakfast we had paid for didnt exist. Thoroughly unpleasant
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 28 2009 Underwhelming at best With a name like "Grande & Yacht Club", I was expecting a bit more, especially at the price being charged during March. I was in the area on business and stayed in this hotel, expecting something a bit more high end. The hotel was under renovations, and although they claim it doesn't get in the way, you can tell its going on and makes the whole place seem a little sketchy. The rooms weren't much nice than a high-end Holiday Inn and the lack of room service was a downer. The clientele was also on the lower end for a supposed yacht club and being situated under a flyway, right next to some underwhelming crusie ships was not aestetically pleasing either.
Reviewed by: PuttingPenguin from on Apr 03 2007 All in all pretty good It's not an easy property to find but upon arrival, was pleasantly surprised. Not completely confident that the price/per night was worth it. Self-parking is the way to go - just ensure they charge you the amount quoted on the internet. Manager was very amiable about it. BUT DO CHECK YOUR ITEMIZED BILL. They overcharged me and mischarged me for parking. After I called, they removed some of the charges w/o the need for a 2nd call. Pool is nice, jacuzzi is relaxing. Clean and nice. Bathrooms could have and should have been cleaned better (my hair was still there after 2 days). Elevators are slow. :)
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Mar 23 2007 They should mention they're doing major reconstruction The photos on the web look great. However, that's not what the hotel is at present. We stayed there on December 23, 2006. When we pulled up at the entrance there was no bell staff, when we went inside to check in the front desk clerk finally came out of the back room. The bellman (who finally showed up)told us that the hotel was being rennovated due to major storm damage. We saw the extent of it the next morning. The room we stayed in should have cost $50/night. I have previously stayed at this hotel (in the tower and LOVED it). At the very least the hotel should let all guests know of the construction, that on a Saturday night you can only get a hamburger from the outdoor bar. The only positive note was the shuttle service over to the port.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 19 2007 Our favorite Place We have been here twice this year. We like how quiet it is. We love the views from the room of the boats and water. The pool is great and to take a break from the sun we can just go and sit at the poolside bar and have a few adult beverages. The beds are extremely comfortable. The Grand is short cab rides from Las Olas and the beach. The staff has always been very helpful and nice. Welike Ft lauderdale and plan to make the Grand our place to stay- John Sullivan
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 25 2006 Four Times//Five Stars My Name is Clayton Holmes. We have been to Fort Lauderdale Four times now and every time we have stayed at the Grande. We were there in April of 2006 and they were starting to renovate the property. We return for one week every 6 months. This is a hotel we plan to visit time and time again. The Staff is very friendly and helpful. You are literally just 5 min form the beach. Hungry? They have a breakfast buffet to die for with a chef that prepares you omelets to your specification. And when your not shopping, swimming in the lagoon style pool, relaxing in the sauna or Jacuzzi, working out in their on site state of the art gym or having a cocktail in one of the two bars, you can walk or sit along the docks on the outer edge of the Hotel and watch the luxurious Yachts pull up and cast off . its quite a sight!!!!We will be there again from August 31st to September 6th and I plan to give another review.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 20 2006 Old with bugs! We stayed at the Ft. Lauderdale Grand while attending a function at the convention center across the street. The common areas in the hotel are well maintained and nice; the guest rooms however are about what you would expect in the 35.00 per night range, rather than the 100+ that we were paying. Our room was not made up on two of the five days of our stay -- and on one day the towels were tossed unfolded into the bathroom. Next, the room had a "safe" which required security to come to the room to use -- never happened although we requested it three seperate times. Finally -- the bugs! I am not sure what kind-- tiny things, but they were everywhere -- on the desk, the TV, the bathroom floor and counter! We will NOT stay there again -- not for free.
