Back to Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Loved it Educational and beautiful. The views are fantastic. I went in November, and it was still beautiful. I usually don't rave about zoos (which is what this is) but it's worth a visit.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 25 2009 Not to be missed As a first time visitor to Tucson, I found this "museum" fairly easy to get to, a good value for the entry fee. You must not forget sunscreen and a hat. Much of the hike is without tree cover. The map was easy to follow. You could spend a whole day viewing each exhibit. My favorite was the cactus garden. When I return to Tucson I will make another visit to this wonderful place.
Reviewed by: CATHY from on May 07 2009 Great Trip Although it's a little pricey at $13 per adult, this is a pleasant place to spend beautiful Tucson winter days. At only $50, it's worth it to get the family membership. I like the desert garden and the new rock dweller exhibit. It's a lot of fun for kids, and a beautiful drive from Tucson.
Reviewed by: EmilyS from on Feb 25 2009 We can't wait to be able to go back again! I loved every part of that trip and I escpecially loved to be able to see animals in thier natural habitat.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 12 2008 Great experience The layout was unique and beautiful. You didn't feel like you were in a zoo setting. I loved how the scorpions and spiders were in the wall, under fake rocks. This is a great place for families and adults. The docents were very polite and informative. I would love to go back!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 03 2008 well worth the trip! this was my first visit to the museum/zoo. Wow! What a place. The aviery is the best I have ever been in. We spent about 1/2 hr. just sitting and listening to all the birds. The cat canyon was excellent and a nice place to cool off. My son loved the cave. We will visit this whenever we make it to Tucson.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 27 2008 Live in PA and am a member of museum I love the desert museum so much that I became a member even though I live on the East Coast! It is a wonderful place to see all the wildlife that is in the Sonoran Desert. I am always amazed at the animals and how visible they are. It is a must see for any visitors to the Tucson area.
Reviewed by: James from on Mar 12 2008 I'm goin' back in December 2008 The open spaces make a scooter necessary for me. It was an amazing experience for a city kid from the Midwest, who has only seen cactus at the Conservatory Garden! Who knew these animals were all out there? I'm excited about seeing more of it, so we're going to drive this time!

Reviewed by: debbie from on Feb 09 2008 Not a regular museum This is more like a small desert zoo than typical museum. It's basically a piece of the desert fenced off, but many of the animals come and go through the fence. The big cats are all in enclosures, but coyotes, javelinas, and other smaller animals roam freely. Go first thing in the morning, and you'll see more animals, and more activity. Take water because you'll wander along paths on the grounds. There is a surprisingly decent restaurant/snack bar on site, as well as a coffee stand, which is good for a hot cup of tea on a chilly morning. The place is run by docents, who are these friendly senior citizens who love to share their knowledge and love of the place. It doesn't take long to see the entire place, and well worth it.
