Back to Griffith Observatory No more reservations or shuttles!!! I want to nip this rumor in the butt because a friend of mine works at the observatory and always complains to me during dinner that people constantly call the Observatory asking if they have to make a reservation or take a shuttle! The Observatory was opened in 2006, and for that FIRST year there was shuttles due to the high demand of visitors who wanted to visit the new building(the shuttles were mainly for the LOS FELIZers who complained about traffic in the area). Starting in 2007 and since then YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE A RESERVATION OR HAVE TO TAKE A SHUTTLE! YOU JUST DRIVE ON TO THE OBSERVATORY IT SELF AND PARK RIGHT IN FRONT. Now the great thing is that there is NO PARKING FEES OR FEES TO GET INSIDE OF THE BUILDING! The only thing you have to pay for is the planetarium show(if you want to see it which is just $3-7)! Now just like any place you want to visit, you might wanna check out the website before you go so that you get more information about the place you are visiting so that you might find out details like KIDS UNDER 5yrs CAN ONLY GO TO THE FIRST SHOW OF THE DAY! Just so that you dont go and have a bad experience with this situation. And like any place, its going to be a lot more crowded if you come on a weekend then a weekday. I just wanted to inform all of you who are wondering so that maybe my friend will have a less stressed out day and that would make dinner dates for me a lot more pleasent. =) Thanks for listening and please check the website and do your research before you go to any place for a more pleasent visit. The observatory website is www.griffithobservatory.org. Have fun!!!
Reviewed by: Joey from on Sep 23 2009 This place was F R E E !!! I can not believe this place was FREE to visit. It offers excellent views of the HOLLYWOOD sign. Awesome space exhibits. Parking is tight, so just park on the street and walk up the hill some. Must be incredible at night, but we went during the day. Almost did not visit b/c thought it wasn't going to be great, but it turned out to be a highlight!
Reviewed by: TPD from on Jul 22 2009 Awesome sight and pretty cheap Nice view of LA and a nice way to get a quiet minute amongst the hustle and bustle below. Pretty easy to find and cheap considering LA prices. Definitely a favorite of mine.
Reviewed by: Peta-GayD from on Feb 01 2009 Very crowded! The view was nice, but it was extremely crowded on a Sunday afternoon. It was not worth the trip for me. We could not see the show because we have a child that's under 5 years old.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 25 2008 BEAUTIFULL PANARAMIC VIEWS EXCELLENT PLACE TO ADMIRE AN EXCELLENT PANARAMIC VIEW OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AND IT'S SURROUNDING AREAS. ON CLEAR DAYS THE VIEWS ARE MORE INTENSE. THE OBSERVATORY WAS BUILT IN A LOVELY ART DECO STYLE ARCHETECTURE TYPICAL OF ITS TIME. THOUGH NEVER INSIDE I AM SURE THAT INTERIORS ARE JUST AS LAVISH AS THE EXTERIOR. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SITE TO BE INCLUDED IN ANYONES ITINARY, THIS WOULD BE FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY, ADULTS AND CHILDREN.

Reviewed by: PhilN from on Oct 16 2007 REALLY COOL I REALLY LIKED THE LOCATION, WITH THE PARK BELOW WHERE YOU CAN HAVE A PICNIC LUNCH AND YOU CAN SEE THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL. THE OBSERVATORY IS REALLY NEAT AND INFORMATIVE. DEFINITELY SOMETHING TO PUT ON YOUR "TO SEE" LIST WHEN IN LOS ANGELES.
Reviewed by: DINO from on Oct 04 2007 Griffith Observatory is Amazing! I went yesterday and it was amazing! Just make sure you come when it gets dark so you can look through the telescope. They also have a big planitarium (Rebel Without A Cause was filmed there.) It's definitely worth your time and money.

Reviewed by: patricia from on Jun 29 2007 Awesome experience! We loved the planetarium show! It was like you were really looking at the night sky - and comfortable too. All of the exhibits were interresting and very "hands on". Our kids liked it as much as we did. The food was very good too, although a little pricey. We would definitely go back.
