Barcelona's districts hold their main festival in spring or summer when it's warm enough to spend all night outdoors. The Gracia neighborhood festival is one of the most famous in Barcelona. The second fortnight in August, locals decorate streets in outlandish styles, and there's a prize for the best one. They organize children's games, cultural activities, and dances to live music. Plaa Rius i Taulet is where it all starts with a parade of giant carnival figures and the building of human pyramids. Festivities end when costumed devils run through the streets setting off fireworks.
