The paving of the piazza is made up of bricks laid out in a fish-bone pattern. The church, a 14th-century Gothic structure, was first called San Cristoforo but the name was changed when an image of the Madonna was found nearby. Tintoretto's Presentazione di Maria al Tempio, The Martyrdom of St Christopher, The Last Judgment and Il Popolo Ebraico adora il Vitello d'oro are kept in the church along with other works of art by Giovanni Bellini, Palma il Vecchio and Palma il Giovane.
