This summer event is primarily a fund-raiser for the Auckland Orchestra, which was formed in 1980 as the Symphonia of Auckland. There are 65 full-time players and a pool of 100 associate players. Peruvian Miguel Harth-Bedoya was appointed as the orchestra's musical director. The date of the event varies, but is usually held in February or March. Held at the Government House near Mount Eden.
