Back to Chinatown Chinatown is for SHOPPING Everyone that placed a comment here about not returning to Chinatown, obviously went for the wrong reasons. Chinatown is NOT for sightseeing, its for shopping. If you want to sightsee go to Times Square or the Statue of Liberty. Chinatown is strictly for the hustle and bustle of negotiating with the chinese for whatever product you see that you like. Chinatown is a must do, if you're into shopping!

Reviewed by: Nirali from on May 22 2009 a great place to visit I like to bring my out-of-state friends to Chinatown whenever they come over. Chinatown is a very unique area in Manhattan. You will see a lot of Asian faces speaking languages that you don’t understand here. There are plenty of good and cheap restaurants here. I tried different kinds of weird Chinese foods here such as frog congee and chicken feet. There are so many things that you can explore when you visit Chinatown. Chinatown is also a good place to shop for fake goods. My sister-in-law loves shopping for cheap stuff here. She can walk around Chinatown for hours and hours. I recommend Chinatown to those who would like to visit NYC.
Reviewed by: Zach from on Feb 16 2009 I thought it was a great place to go!!! Well ovrerall i would think that anyone that visits Chinatown in manhatten wuold have a great experience, overall. There are so many restaurants that offer elegant food, that you cant find in other areas of manhattan. Some of the food may sound wierd, but its all good. Grocery shopping is super here. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and poultry are very fresh. The fish is the freshest. Live and fresh, or early in the morning- fresh from the sea!
Reviewed by: Jack W from on Dec 31 2008 I LOVE Chinatown! It's fantastic! But it is overload for those with ADD!! There is so much everywhere....so many things to buy and haggle on! Taking the subway right to Canal is the best way to get there (I believe it's the 6 that will get you there). It dumps you right off to start your shopping!!!!!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 09 2008 Dirty with Nothing Really to See I would not recommend Chinatown to anyone. There were huge piles of garbage lining the streets and the whole vibe of the place was not cool. It is actually the only place that I saw in NYC that I would NOT recommend.
Reviewed by: Julie from on Aug 03 2008 It has everything and it feels like a vacation Walking around chinatown is like a mini hong kong. I went to hong kong before and chinatown has that same atmosphere, but on a much smaller scale. it is exciting, lots of great restaurants and you can find just about anything you want (jewelry, handbags, name brand clothes, shoes, souvenirs, toys, electronics, watches, accessories, special teas and herbs, dvds, cds, and more). There are bakeries with bubble tea of all kinds. Tons of people walk the streets and it is next to Little Italy and Soho. It adds to the whole New York experience. And it is the oldest Chinatown in America. The people are no different than the people in Hong Kong. If you visit New York City without going to Chinatown, then you are not experiencing the whole thing.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 07 2008 Go here for sure! Chinatown is such a unique experience that you just cannot miss. Me and my friends spent like an entire day there because there was just so much to see. Its just a 10-15 minute subway ride from times square and is so worth the time and money. So many great products and you can bring them down on price which is even better.
