Back to Ocean Key Resort Would stay again. Of the categories of accommodations in Key West (Inn, Hotel, B&B, Cottage, Resort, Condo) I would say Ocean Key is more of a luxury hotel than resort. When I think of resorts, I think of more on property activities and amenities (such as their own, beach boats, etc). We stayed here for our wedding/honeymoon and had a wonderful room with a partial water view. The room was clean, large, colorfully decorated and had many nice touches - such as the large whirlpool tub in the bedroom. The shower head was awesome (and judging by the price list left in the room that included it, people may be in the habit of taking them). Normally we like to explore and go out for breakfast but we took to having room service on our balcony all but one day since we enjoyed the selections that much. We normally like to stay in small B & Bs, but this, along with La Concha are two places I'd look forward to staying again. The Ocean Key is a bit of a splurge cost wise so maybe on our next big anniversary.
Reviewed by: suzanne from on Jul 30 2009 Simply Awesome From the minute we parked our car we received the best service - entered our room Suite 418 we just smiled and then we walked to the balcony - really we were overwhelmed by the view. Since it is located on Duvall street you never have to drive again. I could not have picked a better resort to stay at this April 2008. We will go back without a doubt - great city, great people, great bars - we loved Key West!!

Reviewed by: Michelle from on Jan 29 2008 Took Friends and they loved it as mufch as I do I lived in Key west for two years when this property went from a condominium to a motel. I have always thought they had the best location. You can see the sunset and the Mallory Square revelers at the same time, and are at the end of Duval street with no parking hassels. Plus the rooms are awesome.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Mar 27 2007 NEVER AGAIN ! My wife and have just returned from a two day stay at Ocean Key and we will NEVER stay or recommend it to anyone. First we were a bit taken back by the fact that it was 3:00 pm and housekeeping had not attended to the our room. When we inquired with the front desk, we were informed that the rooms were subjected to being made anywhere from 8:30 am till 4:30 pm. Frankly, we've never heard of such a thing but housekeeping was knocking within ten minutes albeit nearly 3:45 pm.
Reviewed by: A. from on Sep 11 2006 We'll return to hemmingway some day. From the moment we arrived at the hotel I was beyond impressed. I've stayed at other luxury hotels before and nothing compares to this. If you want flooring don't go to a hotel by the ocean. It was the best place I've every stayed, the view is spectacular from every angle.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 21 2005 Not a Rip Off at all I have also traveled extensively and have been lucky enough to do most of it at a luxury level and I go to Key West every spring. The $400 room at Ocean Key isn't for the rooms (which are, by the way, quite nice and the floors are bare because one can assume that sand is involved. It is Florida) the way it would be at a 5 star NYC hotel. It's for the location (literally on Mallory Square), the access to good restaurants (a rarity in Key West hotels), the access to beach front and beach front water sports (again, a rarity in Key West hotels), and the sunset views (this is one of the only hotels where you can literally sit on your balcony and have a totally unobstructed view of the sunset. It's awesome). If you want a huge pool and a fitness room (hello, ocean and skiing), try the Holiday Inn.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 13 2005 Billy Fish is the best... I've never stayed in the Hotel, but our favorite place to start our Key West evening is at the pier bar - Billy Fish! The bartenders are great! They remember us from year to year, even what we drink. All the staff are extremely customer service oriented.
