Back to Holiday Inn Select Holiday Inn Downtown The location is great. I will definitely look into other hotels before reserving this particular one.
Reviewed by: N from on Nov 16 2009 Rebuttal to Bed Bug posting on 8/2/09 The Holiday Inn Select Downtown Memphis takes this type of complaint very seriously. While this guest continues to try and manipulate the internet and post harsh comments about our property, we hope that Yahoo Travel will post this to let everyone know who reads this site that our hotel had Orkin Pest Control come and do a through inspection of the bed, mattress, carpet, linens, furniture of the room this guest was registered in. We have on file a report written by the Orkin Pest Control inspector that states no findings of bed bugs or any type of bug fecal manner anywhere in this room as the guest claims. We have apologized to the guest that during their time in Memphis, his wife experienced some type of bite, however there is no evidence that this happened at our hotel.

Night Manager said “I am not calling you a lair but” he offered to buy us 2 free drink in the lounge! I told him I wanted an new room and was told “I will have the sheets changed and if this is not good enough you can always leave” We were charged the full price for the night we stayed $143 and told to enjoy your ride back to St. Louis. AVOID THIS PLACE, there are better hotels that are cheaper don’t be fooled there is a trolley that runs to the Marriott and it is cheaper. The staff Wrecked our 10 anniversary! The long and the short! Rooms old and noisey, TV hummed when on and was old. Bathrooms are Very Small! Hotel staff rude and there is no parking. House cleaning did not clean our room the entire stay.
Reviewed by: jdub from on Aug 02 2009 This a horrible hotel in memphis The staff and employees could not and did not assist tourists or paying customers. They will overcharge for rooms, the maximum price for holiday inns are printed inside the hotel room door, Beforewarned they will over charge you. The restaurant staff were ill prepared to wait or assist customers and should not be employed in a public place. no one is there to assist you to with your bags. Also they want you to park your own car.

It was completely remodeled and the service was friendly and very helpful. the room was exceptionally clean and the room service was VERY cheap and delicious. Would highly recommend this hotel. Beale Street was right up the street (a 2 min walk) and all of the attractions including Graceland were only 5 min away. We can't wait to go back. We got a great deal on Hotwire!
Reviewed by: kim from on Sep 30 2008 Great Hotel in Downtown Memphis My family and I visited during Elvis Week 2008. We had a great time. This hotel was in a great location for so much. We could walk to Beale Street and many restaurants and attractions. Going to Graceland was great. The staff at this hotel was so accommodating. They had written directions to everywhere we wanted to go. While the hotel was under renovations while we were there, you could not tell it. The guys who were doing the renovation were as nice as the staff at this hotel. Which is very rare.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 04 2008 Loved the hotel and Memphis This hotel has the most perfect location. I stayed here with my family and went to all the attractions. Graceland was interesting and we really enjoyed the Civil Rights Museum. The hotel staff were extremely accomodating and helpful. They gave us good directions to the different places to go. Nice pool and rooms.

We stayed in a nice room and were told they had just renovated it with new furniture which was very modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and telling us about the different things to do in the area.
Reviewed by: Helen from on Aug 19 2008 Good location, for Forum/Beale St This hotel needs to be updated, elevator has serious problems, it just goes up and down between the 1st and 2nd floors. It has been like that for months now. Anyhow, good location if you are in town for a game at the Forum or just going to check out Beale St. Rooms are quite small, bathroom is ridiculously tiny! very old place. But conveinent to everything downtown, so take it for what its worth. Imo, not worth the money
Reviewed by: BigOrangeCrush865 from on Feb 29 2008 We´ll never go there again When we walked into this hotel, the first impression was that it looked very nice and clean. The lady on the front desk was super nice and gave us a lot of information. But it was a whole nightmare when we walked into our room. The rooms were dirty, the beds uncomfortable, the bathroom was super tiny...(it´s hard to sit on the touilet without hitting your knees on the door)and it´s a total rip-off for that price! we´ve paid 171$ for that room...well, I will never stay there again.
