Founded in 1967, this was one of the first restaurants to elevate Mexican food as a cuisine worthy of intelligent enjoyment. Comfortable interior with a warm fireplace shuts away the bustle of La Jolla Boulevard, though an outdoor patio exists for those who want to dine al fresco. The fresh avocado guacamole is prepared table-side here. If you have never had guacamole fresh and well made, this item alone will be worth your trip. In addition, the Verde Crab Enchilada has won awards, combining crab with a delicately spicy green sauce.
