Don't waste your money
This is a truly bad course especially for the price. From the staff to the driving range, everything is well below par. They don't start you on time, you get backed up, the greens are poorly maintained. The putting greens are plain awful. The course is in a beautiful area, but so is Harding and Peacock Gap.

my front lawn has a better putting surface
The Presidio Golf course has so much area ambience given the location and history. The course layout is good HOWEVER my front lawn has a better putting surface than their greens. I paid $80 for greens that look like the Lombard street. I would avoid this place until they get their greens in order. They are SLOW and very bumpy. They need to be rolled and cut and they are slow. Did I mention that they are slow??? Other than that the course condition is good but the green really need some attention. Enough said.

Learn to Play
I learned to play on this course in about 1965. I learned to keep the ball in the fairway. Shoot for the pin on the green. Slow down when walking. Those hills can get to you. The old 8th hole was called cardiac hill. We had some older senior officers have a heart attack on this hole. I think it is now number 17. Don't slice the ball on the old number 18 (now 9). The ice plant will eat your shoes. It also put spots on your pants that the wife cannot get out. Always carry a jacket and an umbrella. Playing in the afternoon or morning fog can cause a problem.

Fire the maintenance people
17 of the 18 greens were in bad shape. Bumpy, uncut, diseased...the clubhouse rep flat-out lied to us when he said 4 greens were in bad shape...they ALL were! Many of the fairways were quite sloppy; a combination of mud and grass in many spots. Lack of signage can get a first-time player a little lost, and no drinking water is to be found on the course. The only redeeming factor is the natural beauty of the course and the spectacular views offered on many of the holes. However, I would not recommend playing it until you know for a fact that the course is being maintained better.
