The University of Pennsylvania was founded by Benjamin Franklin and others in 1740. America's first medical school and first collegiate business school, The Wharton, were established here in the 19th century. The campus also includes the University's Museum of Anthropology and Archeology, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Irvine and Annenberg theaters, a museum about ENIAC (the first electronic computer, built here) and an ice rink, all open to the public.
