The National Theater, steeped in tradition, is located by Karl Johans Gate and is something of a national symbol. The theater shows mainly - but not exclusively - Norwegian plays and a mix of classics and more modern works. It recently celebrated its hundredth anniversary. The National Theater also has a café and offers equipment for those with hearing difficulties. Guided tours can be arranged.
