The Museo Regional of the potter's village of Tonalá is located in the centre of town in a typical adobe house with red-tiled roof supported by wood rafters and bamboo reeds. Temporary exhibitions of art and handicrafts by the region's artisans take place here throughout the year. The small outdoor auditorium stages performances reflecting the cultural life of Tonalá. The town is the cradle of the pottery trade, some of which reached the Spanish crown in the 16th and 17th centuries. There are cooking pots, pitchers, flowerpots and other rustic items for sale.
