The Japanese American Cultural Center is host to many special events and displays related to the Japanese American community. It is a major city resource. There are also annual community festivals like Hanamatsuri which is the celebration of the birth of Buddha, Children's Day, Obon that is alternatively known as The Festival of the Dead, Nisei Week and New Year's Eve celebrations. There is a shop that sells gifts and unique crafts.
