Back to Convivio Troiani (Il) FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO GO & LADIES BE WARE The service was very good but this place is ridiculously overpriced for what you get! While staff was attentive they ran around in fear of doing one thing off. It made it difficult to relax. There was also some sense of pressure to order antipasta. The "wine expert" seemed disappointed when we chose a bottle of wine that was only 45 euros b/c everything was so expensive. Worst part, they give men and woman 2 different menus. My husband took me here for a special last night in Rome. I did not find out until later that his menu had prices and mine did not which is not helpful when you are on a budget. Overall, the staff was nice but placed pressure in a subtle way and the food was overpriced. Some food items were very tasty others not so much. I would not say it is the best place in Rome but not the worse either. Just very overpriced for what you get.
Reviewed by: Kiara from on Oct 16 2008 Very poor value The food here was delicious, and the service was good, if a bit fussy. However, we left feeling disappointed. For this sort of money (98 euro per head for the tasting menu) i would expect not only delicious food, but also a sufficient amount of it to actually feel full by the end of the meal. Food came in very small portions, interspersed with very long gaps (30 mins between some courses). We ate 7 courses, but each course consisted of about 3 forkfuls of food elegantly presented in the middle of an enormous plate. We kept hoping that the next course would contain something more substantial but no. It was only the bread basket that kept the wolf from the door.

Reviewed by: Natalie from on Aug 28 2007 Almost divorce I had to write this as I am frankly amazed that this restaurant has received any stars at all. It has been written in the heat of the moment but hopefully this is the most truthful!

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 28 2007 Stop! Do not go here I am sorry but I must totally disagree with the other posts. Although in the minority I would urge people to read this before you go. This is not a rant but a true opinion as many sites have really promoted this restaurant, which screams a PR job now I have been. This restaurant is NOT good value for money at all + the decor is shocking and not romantic (you sit about 2ms from your partner). On walking in, it is like a funeral palour, there is no background music of any sort and very little atmosphere (we went at 9.30pm on a Saturday night and it was uncomfortable). When I was there three (all english) couples complained about various things (mainly everyone was in shock at the prices - dont expect to pay less than EUR 35 for ANY course, we got away very lightly at EUR 245 for two with no deserts or coffee and one bottle of wine). True, the service is good, yet totally over done. We had a seperate wine, food and table waiter/ess and they could not do the others job - ridiculous!!! Saying that they were nice and spoke english, but thats not why you go out to eat. Now, I have been to many of Londons (plus global) top restaurants and this was nothing compared. I dont understand the other reviews however either they are added by the restuarant or I must accept that people have very different tastes. The food was not impressive, sure I had a nice past a dish, but the main meal of white fish was so basic and small my wife almost cried. The basics were not there, we had motion censor lighting in the toilet and no toilet roll/soap, there was electric doors in the toliet yet there is a cheap ladro figure on each table. Money was spent on the wrong things and I know where it has come from ' my pocket. All in all, without going on too much )although I have), do NOT go here, please - I generally felt like I had been mugged on walking out!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 25 2007 One of the best restaurants ever We dined here on the 17th October for our 25th anniversary and I am fortunate to have travelled all over the world and dined at many great restaurants but this will certainly register as one of the best I/we have ever visited.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Our waiter was very nice & smiling . The atmosphere and the quality of the restaurant were excellent. The wine list was impressive.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 01 2005 Definitely worth a visit Ate there on Valentines day so it was a set menu which I was initially disappointed with but it actually worked out very well as we ate a number of things that we would not have ordered and the food was exceptional.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 22 2005 A superb restaurant Everything about Il Convivio is wonderful, from the attentive and friendly staff to the decor but without a doubt the best thing about this restaurant is the food. Beautifully prepared and presented, it is an absolute delight, in particular the Cappuccino Mousse. I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in London but I would say Il Convivio beats them all. Thoroughly recommended.
