Cockroach, double charged, construction and lies
I booked a Friday night stay for me and my wife. I chose the Brown Palace because of their reputation and because we had stayed there once before. I prepaid when I made the reservation so we would not have to deal with it upon checkout. Upon arrival at about 3:00 p.m., they were doing construction in the room right next to us in room 612... we were in 610. I could see in the room because they had the door open and they were renovating the bathroom, not to mention there were tool cases lining the hall and plastic covering the floor. No problem since we were leaving immediatly. Well, at 7:30 a.m. on a SATURDAY, they started in with the sawing, hamering and drilling!!! After a half hour they quit. Well, at this point a cockroach decided to join us in our bathroom (which I squished and left for the housekeepers in a tissue). We then decided to check out and the front desk clerk asked if everything was alright. I said "No, they were doing constrction next to us and it woke us up. He had the NERVE to say "No sir, they had someone stuck in a room and they were trying to get him out." This really made me mad and I told him "No, they weren't, they were doing construction." He tried keeping to his story and after about 30 seconds of argueing I told him they we also had an unexpected guest in our room (squished cockroach). He then asked me what room I was in and that's when I told him room 610. His silence was golden and he knew that I had caught him in a lie. He said that they would refund me $100 so I gave him a credit card to put the refund back onto. He apologized and said that this was not how the hotel is ran and they hoped that this would fix the problem. At that point we left laughing about the situation and it was more comical than shattering. HOWEVER... on our next bank statement we had found that not only did they fail to give us the refund, they overcharged us by $211!!!! Our room of $300 was now over $500. I contacted the billing dept at the beginning of January and there bookkeeper assured me that I would recieve a refund and credit back on my card. It is now the 3rd of February and the bookkeeper with not return my e-mails and we still have not heard from them! I do not make it a habbit of badmouthing a bussiness, it is hard enough as it is. But this was one bad experience after another and when I left my comment card in their drop box, I expected a call from their manager to see what could have been done. Not a call, not an email! NOT AGAIN!!!

What a dump
I just returned from a stay at the Brown Palace. I will never go back. The front desk staff was nice the first few days, but when I questioned my bill, they were rude. The young lady acted as if I was the dumbest person in the world. The doorman were always friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to 16th Street Mall which is nice place to spend an evening.

great
My husband and I stayed at thebrown palace for his birthday...We booked one of their packages online. "The boys of the brown) For him and his brother to enjoy. The package was to include a tour of Coors field, a tour of the great divide brewery and a six pack, a fifty doller gift card to the cigar bar, 2 massages, and the room, with transportation to all. Instead when we arrived the staff did not know anything about the package. They had to walk in exruciating heat to the Coors field tour! (Its in August) And then to the brewery...The problems continued when their was no ride to get them after the tour of the brewery, and withour their 6 pack! He had to pay for the cab! Very dissapointed with that staff!! (The package would be a great buy if the staff was more educated on it) Other than that the trip was wonderful, the room was fabulous. Very beautiful and uniqe hotel.

Do not stay here!!!
I attended a wedding and reception at the Brown Palace and since growing up in the area decided that we should stay at the hotel. I made a reservation 2 months in advance but when I arrived I was informed that my room was across the street in the "tower" but when I got to the room I discovered that I was paying top dollar to stay in a Comfort Inn. It turns out that the hotels are both managed by the same company and this is common. I went back to the desk to complain and try and get a room in the hotel I had a reservation for but they did not have any rooms and refused to adjust my rate.

Watch out for the housemen.....
I recently stayed at this hotel and witnessed a houseman (i was told) spitting botteled water on the walls and laughing about it with other employes. I saw this houseman the next afternoon in the lobby and his name tag said, Yonnes as this must have been his name? I mentioned what i had seen the prior afternoon upon my check out and they were very grateful for the information and said they would take care of it. I would still beware of employees at this hotel.

WILL NEVER GO BACK!
The room was tiny, we're talking really small and smelled funny with cheap old decor. The bathroom was clean & also tiny, was at least 40-years-old with a mini bathtub & sink and a toilet that ran non-stop. They came to fix the toilet twice but as soon as it was flushed again it just kept on running.

HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE!!
If you want a sound nights sleep, STAY AWAY!! Whenever anyone in the hotel closes their door it slams shut. SLAM! here SLAM! there. It was what I would expect a prison to be or a home full of angry teenagers. I was so on edge from this by the third day, I left as early as I could possibly make it. I never slept as the slamming occurred throughout the night. The hotel staff are aware of this!! Can you believe that? A 4 star hotel knows they have a major problem, and yet do nothing about it. What makes it worse is that I specifically asked for a quiet room. Further, I reserved my room through a discount travel service so I got a room slightly larger than a postage stamp. I literally left my shoes on at all times so as to not stub my toe. I wish I had knee pads though. I have a closet at home larger than this room that had a queen bed, a nightstand, a chair and table, a desk and table and a huge armoire thing for the TV. All in a room that couldn't be larger than 9x10. This hotel is 115 years old and the plumbing shows it. No water pressure and the temp changes at will. The service was excellent I must say and they have a free Mercedes service to take you anywhere downtown. If you must stay here, get a suite and be ready for SLAM! SLAM! SLAM!

Fantastic Hotel
This Hotel is the best thing about Denver. I would go back there just to stay at this hotel. It's wonderful! The people that work there are very nice, too. The spa is definitely worth the visit, although not everyone that works there is above average. They accused my sister of blowing off a service that she hadn't even scheduled. Other than one or two bad eggs in the spa, the rest of the Hotel is fantastic.

Hot and loud
Room was unbearably hot for three nights. No one seemed to be able to turn the heat down. Fire alarm sounded at 2:30 am and went on for half an hour. It again sounded the next evening during dinner, also for about half an hour...not good for digestion. Hotel and restaurant employees didn't seem to care, as if it's a customary occurrence.
